Volunteering at RL

We are proud that so many of our parents volunteer to support learning within the classroom here at Ray Lodge. As a volunteer you may be asked to listen to individual readers, prepare pupil’s work for a class display or support a group of pupils during an English or Math’s lesson. Any help that you can offer the school is always welcome and of course very much appreciated.

As a school, our doors are always open to volunteers whether you wish to support in class or support teachers on educational visits. Perhaps you wish to share a particular hobby or interest with the pupils of Ray Lodge or you would like to talk to our pupils about the job you do.

Similarly, if there is an important festival coming up and you would like to contribute to an assembly please do make contact with the school as children appreciate learning about the life experiences of others.

All adult volunteers receive full training and take part in our induction process which includes: Safeguarding and Health and Safety training. If you wish to support English or Mathematics you will be required to attend an informal training session, which will equip you with all the skills you need to fulfil your role effectively.

Before you begin your role as a volunteer you will meet with a Senior Member of Staff to talk about your expectations, reasons for wanting to volunteer and your strengths. This discussion is extremely important to ensure that you are matched to the class which best suits your needs and experiences.

If you would like to become a parent volunteer please contact the school office.

Our school leaflet ‘Guide to Being a Classroom Volunteer’ contains lots of useful information about being a volunteer in our setting.
